Invitation to join Friends of the Whangarei Art Museum

The "Friends of the Whangarei Art Museum" is a organisation dedicated to encouraging interest in the visual arts and was founded in 1996.

Membership keeps the members up to date with the happenings at the art museum allowing participation in gallery-based programmes: exhibition previews, exhibition openings, artist talks, public programmes etc.
Membership fees are used exclusively for the purchase of new works for the Art Museum Permanent Collection. Over the years the Friends have provided funds for the purchase of over 20 artworks, including many local and regional paintings, sculptures and ceramics. Those works form a valued part of the permanent collection.

Membership privileges

• Free admission to touring exhibitions; Art Museums Newsletters with advance information on exhibitions and gallery activities, and announcements.
  
• Invitation to member-only openings and previews of major exhibitions
  
• Participation in social events
  
• Free entry to Artist talks and public programmes
  
• Discounts at participating local businesses Ie Caffine Cafe, Water Street Whangarei, on presentation of current membership card.
