Richard B. Woodward, Reuel Golden ⬤ Andy Warhol. Polaroids 1958–1987

⬤ $120.00
Andy Warhol was obsessed with Polaroid technology. From the late 1950s until his death in 1987, he practically carried a Polaroid camera with him everywhere he went, amassing a gigantic collection of instant photos of friends, lovers, patrons, celebrities, scene figures, and party acquaintances. And, of course, of himself, the fixed star around which all these satellites revolved.
This book, created in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation, contains more than 150 of these instant photos. Warhol's 'visual diary' shows him as a chronicler and unofficial court photographer of the New York in-crowd and party people.
Portraits of celebrities like Mick Jagger, Alfred Hitchcock, Jack Nicholson, Yves Saint Laurent, Pelé, and Debbie Harry can be seen, as well as photos of his entourage and some still lifes. Warhol's Polaroid pictures, often spontaneous and unvarnished, document his era as Instagram immortalises ours, and revive the world of the Factory and the legendary 'Studio 54.'
