Jacob Baal-Teshuva, et al. ⬤ Christo and Jeanne-Claude

⬤ $25.00
The work of the artist couple Christo (1935–2020) and Jeanne-Claude (1935–2009) cannot be categorised. It is equally art, urban planning, architecture, and technology: surreal and ephemeral interventions in nature and the built environment; complex, provocative, political, and unique.
This compact book covers the entire career of the couple, who were born on the same day, met and fell in love in Paris in the late 1950s, and grew into an unprecedented creative team. Lavishly illustrated, the book ranges from Christo and Jeanne-Claude's earliest projects in the late 1950s to The Floating Piers, which were installed on Italy's Lake Iseo in 2016.
The book naturally includes all the couple's famous projects, such as The Gates in New York's Central Park and the Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin, but also shows early drawings and family photos that were largely unknown to the general public until now.
About the series: Since its first publication in 1985, the Basic Art Series has become the best-selling art book series of all time. Each title in TASCHEN's Basic Art Series includes: a detailed chronological summary of the artist's life and work, appreciating its cultural and historical significance; a succinctly written biography; and approximately 100 colour illustrations with explanatory captions.
