Join us this Saturday from 1–2pm for an artist talk with Ngahuia Harrison, whose exhibition The Net is currently on view at Whangārei Art Museum. Rooted in the pūrakau of the tohorā and kauri, The Net explores Ngātiwai’s enduring relationship with whales, tracing connections between ancestral knowledge, ecological care, and ocean-based economies. Drawing on photography, video, and archival material, the exhibition foregrounds Māori practices of kaitiakitanga, where survival, labour, and interdependence with the natural world remain tightly woven. The talk will run for 45 minutes, followed by a short Q&A. Hot drinks and biscuits will be served.
