Don’t worry about making it perfect—this is your chance to leave your mark on the walls, floor, or even ceiling of the Whangārei Art Museum.

This fully immersive room, coated in blackboard paint from top to bottom, invites a dynamic and ever-changing artistic experience. Drawings layer over one another, creating an evolving visual conversation shaped by those who enter. Whether you're refining a concept or making spontaneous gestures, the space is yours to explore.

Designed for playful interaction and creative experimentation, the Chalk Drawing Space is open to visitors during select hours. Chalk is provided, but artists looking to explore unique textures and colours are welcome to bring their own. Please check with staff for guidelines on use.
